Since when are bettas livebearers????
They are Egg layers

It can take up to 12 hours, but you need to watch them closely for fighting behaviour and aggression
Here is also an article for you to read up on which includes videos of mating

Hope that helps
Good luck

First off Male Beta Fish blow bubbles at the top of the tank for a nest for the Female to inspect. If she does not like the nest she will not enter it. And second off they do not lay eggs.
They give live birth and the babies will be in the nest where the Male will take care of them until they get to a certain stage in which he needs to be removed due to him eating them. But watch the Female she can also eat them.

I tried to mate Betas 6 years ago and did not know how, but learnt real quick that he needs to leave as soon as you can see the babies leaving the nest for short times.

Good Luck....PetsMart also has a wonderful book on how to mate and raise Beta Fish.

that's because the female isn't healthy enough that she has no eggs inside of her.....
she can't release the eggs because there is nothing to release.......
separate them and feed them live diet .....then a fter 2 weeks put them again together....
that should do the trick!!!
if you have any questions feel free to email me!

Betta's don't lay eggs, they have live babies and the male takes care of them. They are the only fish that actually "makes love". To complicated to explain it all here, get a book on them.
