the USA is the only country in the world that doesnt have Universal Health Care and we are one of the unhealthiest nations on earth. Life span in Canada is 80. life span in Europe is higher.

Universal Health care countries even give preventative treatments and care.

People will pay for this with higher taxes.

60 Million Americans Currently UNINSURED!

Republicans even fought a Bill that would cover Children. ( Not a Joke . This really happened)

Universal healthcare is excellent in Canada and Europe. I have friends that live in both countries and they say they LOVE the Services the NHS ( National Health Servies) Provides.

Why cant we as Americans see the benefits of this amazing life saving program.

Republicans dont realize even the private insurance compaines rip you off all the time. They sometimes wont pay benefits for life saving treatments. ITS ALL FOR ((( PROFIT ))

It is because they are proud of the poor health figures the US has and they do not want to spend money helping the poor.

Healthcare for profit in the US does not provide efficient healthcare. The USA has amongst the highest rates of infant mortality in the western world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate and as you mention, one of the lowest life expectancy rates as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy which is strange as healthcare in the US actually costs more than in most other places in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthcare#Economics Based on the figures, people in the USA will spend less through taxation on healthcare, than they pay through insurance. Yes taxes will go up, but if you had a national heathcare scheme, you would be paying less overall as you would then be able to opt out of private medical insurance schemes.

I work in the healthcare system in the UK and you are not limited to waiting months for treatment. Just like you can in the US, you have the option of private health care as well, in addition to treatment on the NHS. The facts are simple. If you have private health care, you get treatment quickly in both the US and the UK. If you do not have private health insurance, you get treatment in the UK, and only emergency treatment in the US. The figures do not lie, people live longer in western countries with universal health care, and less babies die than in the USA. Strange when you consider that the USA is the worlds richest and most powerful country.

[Edit]Thanks for all the thumbs down, is it because I can back up my argument with facts?[/Edit]

Yes, one of the wealthiest nations in the world should have Universal Healthcare. Unfortunately, the health insurance companies have the money, power, influence, and lobbyists to make it difficult to get a universal healthcare initiative passed through Congress and the President. We are paying these companies to NOT provide care, NOT provide it to the people who need it most, and charge exorbitant fees to the people they do provide it to. The current system is insane, treats medical treatment as a privilege instead of a right, and denies treatment to patients in order to make a profit.
Unfortunately, many people have been bamboozled into thinking that it would be government controlled healtcare, which is not the case. The government would pay for it, that is all. Medicare is one of the best run agencies we have in the government. It costs approximately 2 to 4% of its budget to run. Just ask any senior or person on disability if they are happy with it.

They are the ones in the senate and monopolize health care, and because the senate is rich and making lots of monies, they don't stand in line and wait for a prescription "genetic" refill that cost over $50 dollars; Republicans don't realize that the US is far behind Canada & Europe in health issues. It is also sad that a bill that would cover children has not pass in congress. Many Americans are being affected by the red tape bureaucracy of Washington and the children, the single parents, lower & middle class families and the elderly as the most affected.

Universal Health care countries even give preventative treatments and care.

This is probably the most important thing in your entire statement and its the main reason that healtcare is so high.

To answer your question: Yes, Profit is a factor when it comes to health care because Insurance Companys make a lot of money and of course Republicans support big business...no Republican can deny that...so that is why they are against universal health care.

If everyone practiced preventative health care which would be possible through universal health care, Americans would be much healthier and we would all pay less... Wait if we are all paying less and are much healthier how are Health Insurance Companies going to make money?...Thats why we dont have it.

***THE MAN FROM NOWHERE***
6. Just because Americans are uninsured doesn't mean they can't receive health care; nonprofits and government-run hospitals provide services to those who don't have insurance, and it is illegal to refuse emergency medical service because of a lack of insurance

For this reason everyone else gets screwed over and pays more for healtcare.

#2 Who said anything about free? We are talking about universal health care. You are the one who mentioned free.

Except for number one on your list the others are not valid reasons i just dont feel like explaining every single one.

Let me help fix some of the ridiculous misleading or false claims in your question. The US is not the only country in the world without universal health care. The US is nowhere near the unhealthiest nation on Earth. Most Americans who do not have health insurance have chosen so. The bill you mention that was opposed by some Republicans (and supported by some Republicans) would have taken money from American taxpayers to provide free health insurance to parents who already make too much money to be eligible for Medicaid.

The main reason most Republicans oppose the idea of a socialist health care program is because they feel taking care of your health is a private responsibility that you should not expect everyone else to have to pay for.

Well, Republicans and Libertarians both oppose slavery. So you can call it "Universal Health Care" or a "Single Payer System" but it is government operated medical care or socialism. Which will be enforced by the guns and jails of the government and operated by bureaucrats.

Profit keeps fresh eggs and vegetables at the grocery store. And no government official tells the grocery store what items to stock and how much. You don't have call ahead to make sure they have your favorite foods they are there when you want them.

Once you remove profit what's going to make sure the health care services you want are going to be available. The correct answer is nothing. Because what you want or need will not matter. Bureaucrats like the one's that have thousands of house trailors rotting on the old air field at Hope Arkansas will decide what you need and when you can have it. Good luck.

The answer is profit should NOT be a factor in health care. Unfortunately, If we have everyone pay into the system, and have a set price for each procedure, No PROFIT will be made by the insurance companies who can now say no to some procedures and care concerns, thus putting $$$ into their pockets. I may not be a huge fan of Hill's, but the plan is wonderful!!

Commie Care is cheap care. The lyin' lib will not tell anyone, they are good at care that costs dozens of dollars. You wait a long time for care that costs hundreds of dollars. You never get care that costs thousands.

The lyin' lib will not tell people that most uninsured are healthy young people seeing no necessity to pay for the care of old people.

The lyin' lib will not tell you that the statistics used by the United Nations are misleading. For example, no premie gets care. They die immediately without support. The lyin' left calls them miscarriages. We try to treat these premies. If one dies, the UN liars call them child mortality.

All patients, which everyone over thirty, should feel mortally threatened by the proposal of the lyin' lib.

We have freedom to speak out.
Freedom to vote.
Freedom to travel, buy what we want, etc.

But what is that freedom worth if we don't have financial freedom?

I'm not talking about being poor, or not having enough money, I am talking about that $hit happens and even if the best of us planners plan for our future, they can still end up on the very short end, on welfare, food stamps and lack of medical care.

Example:
How many stories have I heard from people who have relatives, friends or themselves where their medical insurance ran out, their life savings depleted and forced to sell their homes and end up in bankruptcy?

Example:
A friend of mine has been coughing up blood. The hospital was not able to determine the cause until last week. The insurance company then sent him a bill for $40,000, saying it was a pre-existing condition.

Example:
Another friend of mine, who was repeatedly told, by the insurance company, that he was in fact insured, was then presented a bill for $85,000 because the insurance company said they made a mistake and he was in fact, NOT INSURED.

Example:
My brother in law, at the age of 22 came down with Multiple Sclerosis. He had just started a new job and his insurance had not kicked in. He was forced to sell his home he had just bought. Of course that money ran out quickly, he then had to seek relief from public welfare and the MS Society. It was a frigging nightmare, always battling the bureaucrats and his illness.

Example:
My Grandfather, who died a few years ago, had a very nice home, yet when he came down with a long term debilitating illness, he was forced to borrow against his $750,000 home. His only sibling, the sole beneficiary to his estate, my mother, ended up with a little less then $25,000 from the sale of the home after his death.

Example:
50% of all bankruptcies are due to medical costs and 68% of those had medical insurance. The key word is HAD, because their lifetime benefit ran out.
http://www.fixourhealthcare.ca.gov/index.php/facts/more/6773/

Example:
It seems the ones that are against abortion will fight against Universal Health Care which would provide pre natal care for mothers and healthier babies. Now we have the dubious distinction of having one of the highest infant mortality rates of the industrialized countries.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2004-11-07-state-health_x.htm

According to the CIA Book of World Facts, our infant mortality rate rank at 180th, between S Korea and Croatia with Angola having the highest rate at number 1, Singapore the lowest at 221, Cuba at 182, Canada at 199, France at 216 and Germany at 210.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2091rank.html

Why is it, the richest country in the world doesn't have universal health care, when every industrialized western country does? Why can they do it, but we can't?

Why is it that so many Americans are so selfish, consumed with their own self interest that they won't pay a dime for others health care, yet those same people, it seems, will fight tooth and nail for peoples rights in other countries and bankrupt our country in the process? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I keep hearing from the one size fits all personal responsibly crowd that supporting Universal Health Care is NOT THEIR PROBLEM, that they have prepared and why should they, as tax payers, pay for it? Listen people, this is very important to those that believe in that kind of selfishness, YOU ARE NOT INVINCIBLE.

Then factor in, that when I see posts about how bad Universal Health Care is in countries that have it, why are those coming mostly from 2nd hand sources? Yet when I hear from people how great it is, that comes from people who live under it.

Our constitution guarantees the welfare of our people, why do we ignore that? Why do we let corporate greed take over and jack up our health care costs to the point were we have the costly medical care on the planet? Yet the ones who are against universal health care fight for the rich fat cat who doesn't give one $hit for them or the horse they rode in on.

-----------------

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense,

promote the general welfare,

and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

---------------------------

There ya got it, Universal Health Care and protection from skyrocketing cost for needed services.

Our federal politicians have Universal Health Care that follows them to the grave. Why does the ultra privileged class have it, yet the very ones they are supposed to represent, don’t?

Plus, here is the final killer, we provide Universal Health Care to Iraq and Afghanistan. Since we provide it to two countries, why don’t we provide it to ourselves as well? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about our own people first?

You can club these people with the FACTS and STATISTICS till your blue in the face. They won't go for Nat. health care till they get sick and need help. Heaven forbid you should have to contribute to something in a monetary way and not benefit directly or immediately from it. Greed is tearin' this country apart...
