Generally ducks sleep in their ROOSTING PLACE where they feel safe and free from being disturbed. Such resting areas varies -nearby their feeding field or may be a mile away.Roost sites can be ponds, wide rivers, or a specially allocated place for them to rest or to nest.

Most ducks often prefer to sleeping on the water to avoid predators, turning their heads around backwards and nestled into their feathers, to keep their bills warm. If such roosting place seems to be unsafe, ducks will sleep in a line where the ducks on the ends sleep with one eye open, watching for predators.

Some duck species may also sleep on land near their roosting pond, often standing on one leg with the other tucked up into its feathers.

Domesticated ducks sleep in a specially fenced area. They may sleep apart from one another but some "groups" do huddle together.

Some other species roost on rocks and other places.

Ducks raft together at night in the open water of lakes. They are certain times when they will sleep together on shore. During nesting season they sleep at the nest site. Some species roost in trees.

They seem to huddle together when it is cold. Otherwise, they just tend to hang out together, in pairs or whatever,
