Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert Pirsig
It really hit home with me. The long dissertation about 'Quality' changed the way I do things. I've read it at least 10 times.
Runner ups:
Rise & Fall of the Third Reich - William Shirer
Age of Turbulence - Alan Greenspan
...and almost anything by Somerset Maugham

The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling. It is a fantasy novel with the most unique plot that I have ever read. You are kept guessing throughout the entire book but you love the characters from the very first page.

"Eragon" by Christopher something. (not getting up to look for it) It's a book written by a young author, which I didn't think would be too good, but gave it a chance since a relative bought it for me. It was amazing. I was enthralled in the book the whole summer, and I was sad when it ended. It was imaginative and magical; check it out.

"Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer.
It has Edward Cullen in it. Case closed.
Kidding, but for real - Meyer writes so well I've fallen in love with Edward Cullen, along with a million other girls or so. =) It's so utterly fictional plot-wise, but when you read it, it becomes so real and it feels like you ARE Bella Swan (the narrator). No lie. When you fall sleep after reading, you wake up and your first thought is, "Why am I not in Forks?" (Forks, Washington is where it takes place.)

Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. I've read many books probably as good objectively but there's something about this creation which is beyond literary criticism or taste. There is so much humanity in it that it somewhat becomes part of you.

Its so sweet and romantic and you just get lost in the book. Edward also gives you something to daydream about in class too.
