There's no guarantee that by taking BCPs that you'd gain weight. Pill related weight gain is a misnomer...the pill in and of itself does not CAUSE weight gain; rather in some women it causes cravings similar to what she might have were she pregnant. Cravings left unchecked will cause weight gain, because even if you're over-eating GOOD foods, too much caloric intake will cause you to gain.
If you feel you're too thin, consider seeing a doctor; perhaps you have a thyroid condition or some other metabolic or endocrine problem.

Every woman and her body is different from the next. It also depends on what type of birth control; some such as the depo shot does add extra (10-20) pounds on fast but others such as the patches either don't cause weight gain or gradually causes it. Why can't you afford to gain weight? What you really need to be thinking at this point is you can't afford to take care of a baby. Frankly, I'll tell you like I tell my kids, unprotected sex is the MOST stupid thing anyone could ever do! Why is that? Because in this day and age, there are diseases out there that people contract from sex that have no cure, such as Aids and especially if you are young like a teenager or young and just now starting out, why would you risk bringing a baby into that life? You really need to rethink your priorities and do the sensible thing and get yourself on some type of birth control and still make your boyfriend where a raincoat for added protection!

I dont think you should go on birth control for that reason. It doesnt always make you gain weight either. If you really want to gain weight eat a meal before you go to bed. Or you could try drinking protein shakes. Those will beef you up in no time. :)

Birth control pills do not cause you to gain weight and even if they did, they are a bad way to do it.
They have hormones and can mess you up if you don't need to take them - which you don't.
Wait a few years and your weight WILL stabilize.
When I was 14 I was also underweight. As soon as I hit 18, my metabolism changed and I gained weight, not to mention I have had to watch it.

You should talk to a DOCTOR about a good diet plan instead of wanting to go on BC just to gain weight.

Weight gain is a possible side effect- it is not something you take to gain weight.

eat more carbohydrates - potatoes/mashed potato, pasta, bread, rice, cereal. And snack on oat/cereal bars.
Make sure you still eat a healthy balanced diet though, just a few more carbohydrates.
If you can, have brown/multigrain bread, pasta and rice instead of white as it's healthier, especially if you're going to be eating more of it. x

Eh, I think so.
But do know the weight gain isn't in all people who take it.
Your doctor would probably have you do other means of gaining weight, like gaining muscle.

birth control doesn't have that effect on everyone-not a good idea if you're not sexually active. Try eating more calories if you want to gain weight.

ew, why would you want to do that??
you might be skinny now, but it'll all even out when you get older!
plus if you do, you might regret all that weight you gained when you get older.
you probably can.. i don't recomedt it. not only that, but not everyone gained weight. you should try gaining mucle. then you'll look better, and be stronger as well.
