Duane Eddy's 'Rebel Rouser'. I can still recall my uncle playing this song while his model trains went round and round the track. I was 6 or 7 at the time, he would have been 14.
I have these vivid memories of all of us cousins going to Grandmas on Sunday after church, listening to Uncle Paul's music in the basement, and dancing around like idiots!

Wow, that's hard. I think it was this song by Keith Green and some of the lyrics went something like; "I used to lay awake at night and see your ugly face on the ceiling, *shudder-like noise* Oooh! What a bad feeling!" That's all I remember but I know I loved it, I was about 6 years old. It was either that or that "Chantilly Lace" song. The next song I really fell in love with was "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, I saw the video for it a little bit before he died, I love it so much. ^_^

Sarh, growing up I lived in a household run by My Mom, who was a very fundamental Christian. You know, rock is the devil's music and all that. But at the same time She was also a concert pianist. So I didn't even get much exposure to rock music until My late teens. But I remember the first song that really grabbed Me.
It was that monster chord from the beginning of "Heat Of The Moment" by Asia. It thought that was rad (As they said at the time). It was really the first rock song I ever liked.
And 23 years later, I still love that song.

I think for me it was probably "Rhinocerous" by Smashing Pumpkins, when I was about 13 or so, the first Pumpkins song I ever heard.

Although long before that, when I was really young, I can vividly remember being enchanted with a lot of the music my dad used to play in the car, particularly stuff like Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Dire Straits, Neil Young and other stuff like that.

Man, I remember a few, but at different stages of awareness.

VERY early childhood, I like the Theme from 'Shaft' & the 1hit from Cuba Gooding Jr's dad' Everybody Plays the Fool'.

A little later on, I loved The Monkees. Loved "Last Train to Clarksville".

Then, not long after that, I discovered the Beatles. Fell in LOVE w/ 'A Day in the Life'.

many others, but those are big early ones....

I was 11 or 12 when I bought a 45 record of "The Letter" by the Box Tops. I love that song. I'd jump around and act a fool singing and dancing.

The very first song I recall wanting to hear all the time was actually a pretty old song called "Lonely Boy" by Andrew Gold. I was like 5 years old at the time. I actually found the song in vintage record store about 15 years ago, and bought it just because it was 'my first'... :)

I think it was these, all around the same sort of time :~

Dreams ~ Fleetwood Mac
What Is Love? ~ Howard Jones
Anyone Who Had A Heart ~ Cilla Black
A Kind of Magic ~ Queen

The first one was always on a cassette in the car, and the other three were frequently on the radio.
