so they can have moderators delete rants, like abortion questions, ranting about breast vs. bottle feeding, circumcision, etc? When the question only serves to stir people up it could be deleted before even being posted.

They could just have 1-2 people per catagory reading the answers, and even just get volunteers or pay people to do it from home. Get some stay at home moms to do this. They can earn a little extra money.

i agree, and they should also have a delay on posting the answers. this one girl earlier was going through and answering questions with the rudest most ignorant things ive ever heard, just to be mean. but it would take a lot of manpower to do that.
EDIT** i would do that job from home. thats a good idea.

Moderating any forum takes a huge amount of manpower, that's why in most cases, it will be self-policing and rely on people to report it. Also, it's difficult to determine what would be considered offensive or improper. What bothers one person doesn't bother others.

One way to solve the problem would be to allow people to tag or rate the posts or answers or individuals. Then you could allow the readers to mark certain people as "trusted" in such a way that if they mark something as offensive, you'd never see it and vice versa. It would take a little engineering time and lots of cpu on the servers, but it would be doable. I don't see yahoo doing anything like that since yahoo only pays lip-service to the social-networking facets of the intertnet. But maybe someday...

If they reviewed every question we wouldn't even see the question until it was 4 weeks old. That is why they set up the reporting and moderators for Answers. All it takes is a question to be reported by 2 people and it is removed.

they should because there are allot of dumb people asking questions to cause trouble between others and most likely the effects of a delay would be great.but it would cause some impatience in people

So... When they ask questions you don't like, they should be moderated. But you're free to ask whatever damn question you like?
