Many health care professionals state that douching is dangerous, as it interferes with both the vagina's normal self-cleaning and with the natural bacterial culture of the vagina, and it might spread or introduce infections. For example, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services strongly discourages douching, warning that it can lead to irritation, bacterial vaginosis, and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Frequent douching with water may result in an imbalance of the pH of the vagina, and thus may put women at risk for possible vaginal infections, especially yeast infections. [1]

Douche has got to be the number 1 worst product on the market. Douching takes away the natural bacteria of the vagina, and when the bacteria is gone, fungus has no competition and thrives. I.e.: douche and open yourself to a yeast infection. Don't bother, soap and water on the outside, let the inside take care of itself. All of your innards know how to keep themselves clean (I mean, would you use a stomach cleanser??), so let your vagina be.

It's SAFE... and it doesn't cause health problems. It CAN if you do it too regularly because douching regularly can alter the natural PH in the vagina. Essentially, the vagina is a "Self-Cleaning Oven" to quote Dr Oz. It doesn't really need our help. But I have used a douche made of water and essential oils when I need a fresher feeling on rare occasion. It's not BAD if you do it very rarely. But it's not exactly a necissary part of vagina cleaning. Wash the outside with soap and water and leave the rest up to mother nature.

No. Today all gynecologists say NOT to douche. The best way to keep your vagina clean is to sit in a bath of hot water. That's the only way the water can get up there. Makes sense, right? :)

Good question. I hope a lot of females read this. For that you get a star!! :)

It is not safe to douche. There is no doctor that will recommend this because it changes the PH in your vaginal area and can cause additional problems by letting bacteria invade the area. Your vagina is a self-cleaning organ. You need to let it do its job without your help.

douching can cause health problems. It's best not to douche, besides, that is a self cleaning organ.

I only do it every once in a while b/c I have heard that it screws up the bacteria and acid balances in your vagina, but still I don't think douching a couple of times is going to hurt, beside I feel cleaner after doing it.

It's not healthy. Just keep yourself clean and let your body take care of the rest.
