Bosnia-Herzegovina is a country in Southeast Europe in the Balkan peninsula.
It's population consists of a mix of Bosnian Muslims, Serbs, and Croats. Religions are respectively Muslim, Orthodox, and Catholic. The language is Bosnian, very similar and mutually understood to Serbian and Croatian languages.
It gained independence in the mid-90's after the civil war in Yugoslavia. Before that it had been a part of Yugoslavia for most of the 20th century, and before that it was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
The First World War was sparked off in the capital Sarajevo with the assasination of Franz Ferdinand.
Current issues would be economic development, fixing buildings and infastructure damaged during the recent war, existing tensions between the Croats, Muslims, and Serbs who live there (the status of Republika Srpska, the eastern half of Bosnia), and the status of minority groups such as Roma (gypsies), just to name a few.
Lot's of turkish influence can be found in Bosnian design, food, music, etc... Sarajevo is a unique city in Europe, sometimes compared to Jerusalem because of the mix of religious and and ethnic groups living there.

Perhaps it wouldn't be wise to chose this country because of its complicated political history. You just might not get the right information... Nevertheless, I hope you might find useful my guidelines.
Bosnia used to be the republic in Yugoslavia with the most religious mixing, or rather say ethnic. It served as an example of coexistence to the world in a country which pretended toward the same.
There were tensions coming from unresolved historical issues. These continued existing because Yugoslavs did not face the crimes of WW2 toward each other, but these rather were kept as tabu controlled by the Communist Party under Tito. These tensions ended in a consequential political materialization...
At the outbreak of the civil war in Yugoslavia, the three ethnic groups split as was natural (but into more than three parts.) One of the Muslim leaders, Izetbegovic (the other Avdic - allied with the Serbs) was "ordered" by USA (Zimmerman) not to form a confederation (Jose Cutiliero) but to hold Bosnia under his (read: Western-Islamic) military political power, despite Serbs having had overwhelming confronted military power and Croats mingling with the idea of joining Croatia. Thus, as the Muslims were backed up by Germany, USA, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran and numerous UN NATO poltroons, the country entered a bloodshed with 100,000 victims of war.
I told all this so you get the idea what is going on right now in this artificial country. The outer political forces which created this mess are keeping it together in the same fashion. The Serbs and Muslims do not function together. The mess of the civil war has created deadly wounds to this ill country in which the people are full of hatred toward each other. The Serbs are being politically decapitated each time they raise their head, while the Muslims are constantly repeating historical lies and accusing everybody and everything for their social misery and problems in central political control of the ill Bosnia (too many lost lives and no parallel outcome to that, because the Serbs gave them quite a haircut (as to the Mujahedins and Christiane Amanpour...)
To illustrate this, should be said unlike it is being said all over, that the satanized Serbs are not the only rapists in the Bosnian civil war, that the figure of 60,000 raped Muslim women is a Western figure used to escalate the bloodshed in the Christiane Amanpour fashion. The genocide issue of which the entire Serb population has been condemned in the media (Srebrenica-Mladic), is also a politically manipulated term used to wash the bloody hands of those who were the real causes of the bloodshed.
The Americans are trying to put Kosovo and Bosnia in some kind of "trick or treat" package in their already known game (read: unknown since the rules of it "change accordingly," even when that would mean violating Security Council, or throwing depleted uranium and cassette bombs over civilians) whose ultimate target is Russia.
This great video tells it all:

I might not have answered your question directly, but I just wanted you to have the idea of how things are complicated to be presented through their real nature.

aueio, kind as always, gave you very good and detailed answer. I will give you only my point of view on current situation, based on fresh news and events.
Current issue in Bosnia is very big political tension and very similar situation to the 90-ees, before war started.
So you might wait a little bit with your project, because if we have another war here, there will be even more criples and more victims, and you could answer on question: why same patterns repeat itself over and over again? Although it sounds unbelievable, there are still some people who actually consider a war as an option. So I guess the only answer is to evacuate normal people to some other countries, and give guns to the creeps. For the sake of a mankind. Ole!

Well I know a lot about Bosnia and Herzegovina I will help you if I can. First you should write about the former Yugoslavia and the states it was made of you know Serbia,B&H,Slovenia,FYRM, Montenegro and Croatia. How they drew apart in 90's and how war ended in Bosnia, how the divided it, in what state is it now. How OHR wants to control it and haw are government of Republika Srbska protesting against it(Bosnia is formed of two states(entity) Republika Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and how they are doing it. Three different nations inhabit it Serbs,Croats and Muslims. In Republika Srpska majority is Serbs, in FB&H are Croats and Muslims , there are more Muslims.
