I'm taking my girlfriend out for a date (birthday) and I want to know what restaurants I can go to for dinner (affordable). It must be in walking distance (.5 miles or so) of pier 39. Drinking is not an option and again it must be affordable ($18 max per person). I look forward to your responses.

I second Boudin. We just took our kids and grandkids there. Clam chowder in a sourdough breadbowl is $7.95 (and no tipping needed). And it's so excellent! Then go walking around and find a chocolate shop and grab dessert on the go. And just walk around and enjoy the sights and talk. Don't forget her gift! :)

Each time a individual feels of San Francisco feels at a huge International Orange-coloured connection, a park spanning a lot more than 1,000 miles or perhaps a town wherever contemporary art and tradition and if you should be enthusiastic about that city then this is the place to begin hotelbye . One of the points for everything you must visit San Francisco is PIER 39. From incredible views and a sea of sea lions to chowder bread bowls and California wines, your trip to San Francisco begins at PIER 39. That place is probably the most visited location in San Francisco. It provides two degrees of dining, leisure, buying and attractions, all surrounded by unbeatable opinions of the town and the bay. Based over the traditional San Francisco waterfront, PIER 39's spot provides the picture great foundation for postcard opinions of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the popular city skyline.

Are you from the West Coast? If not, I recommend In N Out Burgers. I know, it sounds cheap/unromantic, but really, the best burger in the area. Yum.

Rainforest Cafe might be a fun (but touristy) option.

For an $18 pp budget - I recommend Boudin (clam chowder), but I'm not sure if it's open during dinner. How about Houston's - classic American food (don't order steak). Ana Mandara is a nice fusion restaurant, but maybe a bit expensive.

If you're willing to walk a little further, maybe Palomino? Or Gordon Biersch? Around there is Taylor's Automatic Refresher - yummy sweet potato fries and shakes.

Or if lunch is an option... maybe walk to the Ferry Building during the Farmer's Market and buy some fruit, cheese, meats, bread and have a picnic! Get gelato afterwards in the Ferry Building.

Have fun!

North Beach is pretty close to Pier 39. Walk up Columbus (where Tower Records used to be), there are plenty of places, both expensive and cheap. Take a look at a few and decide for yourself. But I definitely think North Beach is far more romantic than Pier 39. All those tourists completely kill that area.
Good luck!

Fog City Diner might be one place. There's also a place across the street and down one block from Pier 35. I can't remember it's name at the moment but will post it in a few minutes. Further down the Embarcadero is Gordon Biersch. Some of the entrees at these places will be out of your price range but you should be able to stay within your budget. There's also a Rain Forest Cafe on Pier 39 or The Hard Rock Cafe. Either of these 2 places can be fun too.

The name of the place is Houston's.

I think that Boudin's Restaurant is fairly nice, and inexpensive- compared to many things around.

It's hard to find cheap eats though in that area.

Fredo's Sea delicacies. You can get there by bus. Don't take the cabs.

Scomas for sure. Fancy and really great food yet you can eat for less that 18 a person for sure. They have this one deal where you get soup/salad, entree and their awsome chocolate raspberry dessert for a really reasonable price.
