Be careful! Oak floors can be permanently marked by water. If vinyl or linoleum, you'll need a bucket, a mop and some water with your choice of detergent. (I like Pine-sol or Lysol) Accent on the sol (Solvent that lifts dirt!). Plain ammonia will also do, diluted with water of course.

I like to use Johnson's liquid floor wax after cleaning. It leaves a nice glossy shine. Recently, some flooring materials have a built-in shine, so this step is not necessary.

Remember not to mop yourself into a corner. Start at the far corner of the room and work your way backwards towards the exit. (That way you won't have to leave any foot prints on the clean portion of the floor.)

Depends on what type of flooring you have. For linoleum you need a mop, bucket , pine-sol & warm water...
