I am using win xp(NT 4) and I am try to get win nt 3.51 on the same computer (NT 3.51 is on innotek VirtualBox) the 3.51 virtual computer is recognized in xp but won't let me connect and in NT 3.51 it does not recognize the xp host os why????

I am sorry windows xp is NT 5 not 4 and I know it is possible because i have done it with two physical computers so virtual should not make a difference

Well you need to be sure they are in the same WORKGROUP and have permissions set correctly (username and passwords) are used for both NT and XP! So check the permissions for the users. You MAY have to add NetBios over TCP/IP or add netbeui (as a last resort) some times different versions just need that extra kick (bad as it might be!)

i think you need a different operating system software for that kind for file sharing (windows server family 2003, etc).
