The girl was abducted and gang raped but she was punished by the court for being in a car with a man who was not a close relative.
Many countries have protested. The US ( a close Saudi ally) described the ruling as astonishing. Canada described it as barbaric. In UK where we have just received a state visit from the Saudi king, with all pomp and circumstance, our govt. has kept a cowardly silence.
What do you think, of this latest example of Muslim justice?

Doc,
For some one who call himself doc(!), you are incredibly stupid and cruel. No one is saying the punishment was illegal. The law is what we make it to be. We are saying Muslim Sharia law is beastly, barbaric and inhuman.
I hope even you can understand it now.

Of course this is wrong and against any kind of religious beliefs. These type of things happens in lot of developing and developed countries past and will be in the future. I am pretty upset about how people think about a rape victim in modern world. Even in lot of European modernized countries still people think that rape victim has done something wrong as the rapist and this concept has increased the number of violence against women. I think the attitude of the people (especially men) should change to change the laws of the countries, otherwise even changing the laws in favor of humanity will make no difference.

Well .. you are seeing what media wants you to see. In saudi Arab , women cant be companied with somebody other than her family members. She went out with somebody other than her family members in that particular dyay and unfortunately she was raped. Now All three parties were punished according to the Saudi law. She was punished because she broke the law by going outside with some people that she is not supposed to be with. Those men were punished because they took her out and Rapist were punished. Now you may ask why such kind of law in that country? Do you know how many women get raped in America an hour. Statistics tells about every 6 min .. a rape took place in the America. for preventing those kind of incidence, Saudi gov follow Islamic law. Well you may say .. they are limiting my freedom. I say Prevention is better than cure.

I think it's safe to say that "SANE" people are opposed to this kind of treatment, and the guy who professed Islam nations are a wonderful place for women to live, is just a moron!!
"Brainwashing", Religious fanatics, alive and well in those countries, as it has been for Centuries!!
To me, it is sad.. To see, lets say on a TV news broadcast, little Islamic children, both male and female, and what they are being taught, is just so sad. That they too will grow up to be Animals and Victims, and don't even know it yet.....
If you took those children and raised them somewhere where that doesn't happen, imagine what kind of life and future they would have......
But their parents are mindless people to allow and believe crazy teachings in the first place, by the crazy Nut Jobs who have held power all these years, passed down from generation to generation.....
There are sane people all over, unfortunately, they are outnumbered, and are "Labeled" due to their people who are not, and will never get a fair chance by most of the rest of the world because of that......
Shame huh.....

Sad and true that this stuff happens in many countries. And also there are probably many other cruel laws. I think all countries with better decency and understanding of humanity should pressure countries as digressive & de-evolving as Saudi Arabia for change.

More of the same, from that part of the world.
I'm wondering if this is the only sort of justice these people have ever known and so that is why they do not rebel and affect change.
Pretty sad is all I can say.

I don't agree with it, but I also know that the punishment was for several offenses. First, for having broken their law that states no female is to get into a car with a male other than a blood relative. And when THAT punishment was handed down, she complained to the world media and was THEN found to be in contempt of court. Her punishment was then increased as you report.
None of this would have happened had she not broke that first mentioned law.
As you report it, you have managed to leave out a great many pertinent facts. Thus making it the equivalent of a quote out of context. You cannot make a sound judgment without benefit of knowing the facts.
I believe that in a great many cases, the victim NEEDS to own a certain amount of the blame.
So Franco! I guess you missed my first comment! As for my IQ, I suspect (for all the good it's done me) that it's still higher than yours -- no insult intended, just fact. Do I understand it now? HA! While stuck there, I studied their law and religion. Again, I strongly suspect I know and understand far more than you on this subject. And I am far from cruel. I do however believe in accountability and responsibility for one's own actions. She had to have known that no good could come from attempting to try this in the court of world opinion. It was down right stupid on her part to think otherwise.
My personal opinion of Islam as a religion is that it's a farce. Christ said that he would be the last prophet and that anyone who came after him is both a liar and a deceiver. Mohammad (the founder of Islam) came 600 years AFTER His passing. And, with the founding of that "religion," the middle east, which gave the world, art, literature, music, science, medicine, astronomy and algebra, fell into an abyss of dark ages unlike that which the world has ever seen and they've yet to see the light.
What the girl did was stupid. The cards are stacked against her (women) in that world. She's lucky they didn't choose instead to stone her. So, how offended would you be if they came here and tried to dictate to you what our laws should be? Perhaps we should just nuke them all and be done with it? I think not.
