Conservatives are typically Constitutional constructionists, - agreeing with the original intent by the framers, as to it's original intent.
So of course, the constitution is the cornerstone of American and conservatives would be vocal.
The real danger to the US is the "living constitution" folks that basically say, - we'll interpret the constitution for what we think it SHOULD say for 'today'.... ouch.!

What do you mean by "if" the government restricted our constitutional freedoms? Where have you been in the last 6 years? Will the conservatives fight for it, hey dude they are the main one taking away our freedoms in the name of fighting the so called "terrorist." After Hurricane Katrina the police and military went from house to house forcing homeowners to relinquish their guns. Right now the Supreme Court is deciding on a case that has a lot to do with our 2nd amendment rights. President Bush has enacted to many Big Brother laws spying on American citizens. There is a new bill called H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 and passed Congress after a bipartisan vote on October 23rd. Both parties are guilty. Why do you think so many Americans are getting arrested for protesting. Don't make the mistake of having a Ron Paul sign in your front yard.. We talk about fighting for freedom and democracy, but now it seems like the government things we are potential terrorist.

This is so very true. We must stand up for ourselves. Obama has stated that he will stand with the Muslims if the political winds shift in an ugly direction. His quote is in his book "The Audacity of Hope" America doesn't want a black lying Racist Muslim President. Before you say he's not Muslim read his quote from his book and then you'll see that he's just as much Muslim as has been reported about him. He will stand with the Muslims against America if he loses this election. Do Y'all want someone who has said where he'll stand if we fail to give him his way. Like a whining child. I sure don't want a Muslim lover as my President. Anybody except Obama 08

Hell yes conservatives would fight it, mainly because socialist liberals would be behind it.
Liberals, in certain states/cities have tried several times to take away gun ownership (2nd amendment)
Liberal created "Fairness Doctrine", look it up some time it seriously limits free speech and to some extent freedom of the press.

What you consider constitutional freedom and what the government considers constitutional freedoms, apparently are two different things. This is why I keep saying that I wish people had paid more attention to American civics/government. We have something in this country called "checks and balances" so that constitutional liberties are not taken from us.

Only if it included restricting the 2nd amendment.
All others they would just keep asking..."what rights have you lost?" until they were gone.
