it differs between babies. 2-4 ounces a feeding sounds about right for an 8 day old. thats all they do at this age: eat sleep poop and cry. so dont stress. s/he will eat anywhere from 4-8 maybe 9 times a day. it just depends on the baby!

My baby was 6 weeks premature and came home from the hospital at 3 weeks eating 2 oz every 3 hours, he now is 10 weeks old and eating 6 oz every 4-5 hours. But the doctor told me he should only be eating 2 oz!!!! There is NO WAY he can only eat two oz! He would starve. It all depends on your baby, If she is still hungry try upping the intake to 4 oz. Also she may not be hungry just wanting something to suckle on, try a pacifier. Good luck,.

Newborns will very commonly eat every 1-3 hours around the clock. 2-4 ounces for a formula fed baby is normal. It does seem as though newborns are always hungry, but as they grow a bit they will be able to go a bit longer between feedings. Babies often fall asleep while eating so their little tummies don't get completely filled which can cause frequent feedings. Additionally, growth spurts are common in the first year which will cause a baby to be hungry more frequently and often take in a larger quantity.

Your baby is just tiny still. His little tummy can only hold about 2 to 3 oz at a time. In a few weeks it will be able to hold more. Until then, he'll need to be fed every 2 to 3 hours...sometimes more often. That's why new parents are so tired all the time - no sleep.

Try offering her 4 oz, that may keep her full for longer. Newborns don't usually eat a lot but it can vary from 1 to the other how much they need.

If she is hungry, feed her. Just make sure you burp her often to help with over eating and not to over fill her lil tummy.
My daughter was ALWAYS hungry - she is almost off the growth chart at 5 months. Shes a healthy happy baby.
They go through growth spurts often and this can make them hungrier.

Babies cry for other reasons, besides being hungry. The way bottles are designed, baby often has to gulp or drown. This doesn't mean that they are starving.
