Which College football conference is the best?

To me, it's the SEC. We can never really get a shot at a National Title, because we're too busy screwing each other up. But, this question is based on your opinion, but please provide a good argument.

I have to be honest, the SEC had an off year in my opinion but overall I still think they are the best conference.

Why do a million people a day ask this question? Since the different conferences don't play until the bowl games, its useless to try to justify an answer

Jason: Good point, just because 2 teams play 4 OT doesn't mean they are great teams. I saw alot of big plays, which would suggest not so good defense!

4 overtimes prove how tough a conference is? I thought that just proved a conf could not play defense. With that kind of definition that must mean Navy and Notre Dame are REALLY tough teams since they played a triple overtime game.

Each conference has strengths and weaknesses. There is not set answer. Just remember Michigan and Alabama lost to a lesser division opponent. What does that say about a conference.

There are only two ways to answer this question:

1. Out of conference record against ranked opponents.
2. Bowl record against similarly ranked opponents.

At this point, it's too early to tell. The MAC and the WAC beat up on each other also!

i agree with you, there is really no another conference that could compete with the sec. in some conferences there is one or two tough teams,but the sec has a lot of tough teams.

I agree it is the SEC take for example today kentucky vs tennesee went into 4 overtims just proves how tough the confrence is.

Definitely the SEC. Almost every game is a rivalry game.

SEC is the deepest. Their bottom third could beat any bottom third in the country. But that doesn't necessarily go for their top third against all other top thirds.
