I've been doing some research online and it hasn't exactly been very helpful. Recently, like maybe like 3 or 4 months ago the smell of my vaginal discharge has changed quite noticeably, it used to smell sort of fishy, but only after long days, it always has been clear though. I haven't had any problems with my periods what so ever, but now my discharge is sometimes white and kinda creamy, and smells so sour its quite gross, its a really pungent smell and its very strong at times. I really dont know what it is but i know what its not, i know its not an STD because i am still a virgin and have not had any sexual intercourse of any sort, i know its not a yeast infection because one thing online research has taught me is that when you have a yeast infection your vagina swells or hurts and your discharge comes out thick, lumpy and like cottage cheese and i definitely lack all those descriptions. So really i dont understand what it could be or more importantly, how to go back to normal.

Vaginal discharge should be colourless and odourless. If not, see a doctor.

I'm 50 yrs old with two grown kids. That being said I'd say your not drinking enough fluids to dilute the secretions. Adding Cranberry juice or cranberry combo can sweeten your secretions, man or women's secretions. If you can't drink cranberry juice then increase your intake of water by at least half more than your use to.

Discharge is normal during your cycle. When you ovulate and after your period. Read the link info and see which area you fall in. This link will allow you to ask an expert online too.

If the discharge is causing your to itch you still could have a yeast infection. I don't always have a heavy discharge with the yeast infections. You will notice a discomfort and redness too. When all else fails call your doc and speak to the nurse first. The nurses are great to answer such questions and they can decide if you need a quick look to see if its infection.

Hope you feel better soon, D~

First of all, all women have a distinctive smell. It should not be strong, it should be very mild to nothing at all. My guess is that you have some sort of infection going on. Any type of bacterial infection can cause a heavier discharge and an odor. Your discharge should not smell fishy either. If you were married, I would tell you to get a second opinion from your husband, especially about the smell thing. What you may think is foul may be your natural odor. You can ask your doctor about the smell and if it is foul or abnormal.

It could be any number of things. It is not normal to for discharge to be that way and to smell. You need to see a doctor or a gyno right away.
