Instead of buying gifts for everyone, The past three or four years we have rented a log cabin in the mountains and invite the children up and have given them lift tickets so they could ski for the week. We have friends from Florida that come up and spend the week with us and that is our gift to everyone. We don't have the hassle of shopping and everyone enjoys it, plus we get some quality time together. I get the fire place with a nice drink, so life is good for the week. I usually fry a turkey for Christmas dinner and the wife and daughter fix all the trimmings.

we put our tree up on the 1st of Dec and take it down on jan 1st. I send cards out to only the people I recieved cards back from last year. Buying mostly gift cards this year as thats what everyone seems to want, so that won't take much time. The worst thing is what to get my spouse!!!!! we eat ham on christmas with all the trimmings! I just can't believe thanksgiving is really over and we are looking to christmas! where did this year go?

I just finished changing my house over for Christmas. The tree is up and garlands and our large nativity scene. We are not spending much on gifts this year and we are only buying American made toys for our little ones. We don't do Christmas dinner. We do a huge spread of all different kinds of hor'deurves on Christmas Eve. It's just our family's tradition. That's when we open our gifts as a family with our children and grandchildren. Then Christmas day, we each spend with our own families and visiting all of our in-laws. What do you do? Tell us about your plans.

I am dreading putting up my Xmas Tree each year I stress over it, its over 6ft tall and it takes all day to put it up straight...
I have left all the Xmas shopping to my husband this year as he seems to think he can do a better job, so its stress free for me this Xmas apart from Xmas cooking which in NZ is a BBQ because the weather is so nice and we will be at the beach.
As for Xmas cards I have already sent out overseas cards but wonder wither my contacts would think it strange if I ask to sent them a card what do you think?

We do what we can within our budget. Cards will be sent next week. No menu to prepare for, only the Bean Casserole (yep, that old standby) for the family dinner. I'm told dinner will be Rib Roast. I can only HOPE that they do NOT OVERCOOK the precious thing!!! Every year, my sister and bro-in-law cook the hell out of it, and it 's dry and tough instead of moist and tender! What a waste of a beautiful cut of beef!

Have a holly-jolly!

My tree goes up Nov.25th each year and stays up until Jan.25th.
Each year I spend July-Oct. crocheting scarves (usually 100 of them) to hand out in Nov.to the homeless people that I see on my way to work each morning.
I send my mailed greeting cards out 2 weeks before Christmas and hand out cards at work 1 week before Christmas.
Christmas dinner is usually the weekend before Christmas day, and my 2 grown sons join me on that day.
I spend Christmas day itself volunteering at a Crisis Line, or Womens Shelter, or Children's Hospital.
Christmas to me is giving. The more I give the more I receive.
And on that note, I give to you the wish of a very Merry Christmas however you chose to spend it.
