Is there anyone on their roster that you would have an interest in for your team? Sundin would be a nice pick-up for alot of teams but his value is diminished by the fact he would be considered a rental. Tucker would be a good fit in some places. McCabe would be good in some places (NYR) but his high salary would deter some teams. Kaberle I wouldn't think would go anywhere. One of the 2 goalies could go as an overpriced back-up somewhere. They have handcuffed themselves with Blake, his career season was last year, in his contract year. Kubina for 5 million per season? I'll pass.
This team is in a position that you can't even really blow it up and start over like Philly did.
At least they have guys waiting in the wings-not. They are ranked 25th in terms of prospects. Pogge is the only guy who is somewhat of a blue chipper and who knows with goalies. With their luck, Rask will end up having a career 10x better than Pogge.

Quinn and now Ferguson have this team ready to once again be the laughing stock of the NHL. At least some other marginal teams like LA have a good depth of prospects. This club has no foreseeable future.

If I am a contender, I would have to have some serious interest in Nik Antropov. He is still having a career year although his numbers have dipped a bit since the start of the season. He becomes an UFA after next season and represents just over a $2M per year cap hit. It's probably a season too early to be mentioning his name for this question, unless they get absolutely no takers on some of the other names you mentioned. They are on the hook for Blake for $4M per season, Tucker $3M, McCabe $5.75M, Kubina $5M and Kaberle $4.25M. All of those players are signed through 2011 except for Kubina. None of those players seem particularly appealing at first glance.

Bidi: Sundin would be a fit anywhere. Great skills + leadership qualities = winning combo. Send him to Philly, no complaints from me.

Bill: Do the Flyers really need a player like Tucker? Cote and Eager have the "energy" roles. They have other guys willing to drop the gloves when needed: Richards, Umberger, Hartnell, Smith, others. Downie ends his suspension later this week as well. For $3M per season, I think we could do better than Tucker.

I'm sure a lot of teams would like Sundin for a year or two. It's obviously going to be an equal trade (another 36 year-old super star and a first rounder?!?!). I know the Leafs don't want to get rid of a good thing, but seriously put him out of his misery. I'd take Tucker for sure. He can score goals and drop the gloves. Anywhere but the Rangers. Avery & Tucker don't mix. I doubt anyone would even look at McCabe because of all his defensive errors lately. Kaberle's a good D. I'd like to see him go to half decent team to see what he can do. I wouldn't want Raycroft even for a backup. Toskala can be the back-up and Emery can be the #1. Blake had 40 goals last year. How many does he have so far? 5 million for Ku-who?
JFJ messed up the organization with ridiculous contracts. Now they're stuck. Maybe Pogge can come up and have a good career in a couple years. I'd be willing to bet money Rask will have a better career than Pogge. It's just the way it goes in Leafs Land.

Despite what I say about him, I'd like to see Tucker in Philly to add some grit and tough veteran leadership. I don't think the Leafs should trade their picks or prospects. Instead they will do best to suffer until the hefty contracts are off the books much like what the 76ers are doing now with the Webber pact and a few others.

My favorite Canadian team needs a change for the better. But I don't see the management having a change of style. Until they do, or the team gets sold to an ownership that cares about tradition, and can understand todays sports economy to where they can balance profitability and winning, the Maple Leafs are consigned to being teasingly in the middle of the pack.

Shame.

LUBERS: I wouldn't say that the Flyers are without any energy guys, I meant that they wouldn't be hurting their chances. But, it wasn't until now that I realized that they are near their cap limit. So adding his paycheck would be a difficult thing to justify right now. Good call.

i might attempt to do something like Dave Dombroski did for the Tigers (i comprehend that's a distinctive recreation even though it relatively works very almost a similar way). First, i might choose for a reliable veteran participant who's additionally a reliable chief, something like a Brendan Shanahan yet with a pair extra years left than him. He might have the skill to help the team win and tutor the extra youthful men. next, i might placed countless concentration on drafting. The mark of a reliable franchise in any recreation is a staggering point team with men that got here interior the direction of the device. i'm undecided how Toronto has drafted interior the previous yet, it is in easy terms a wager, seeing how they have performed in modern times it may no longer have been too reliable. quicker or later, there could be a surplus of youthful gamers, that's a reliable sign which you're drafting nicely. At that factor, i might deal some gamers for a guy or 2 that ought to take us over the staggering and get the Leafs to the Cup. As for training, i'm undecided what i might do with Maurice. he's had some reliable factors yet i'm undecided if the down factors are him or a manufactured from undesirable gamers. i might probably save him around for somewhat to establish if it grow to be one or the different. If it relatively is him, i might fire him and hire somebody who will win. If it relatively is no longer him, then I save him till he desires to depart.

It would make sense to rebuild. The only problem is ... and this is part of the reason the Leafs are where they are ... is Toronto awarded at least three of those guys no-trade contracts.

So unless Sundin and McCabe and Kaberle say "I want out" they can't even begin to shop around.

Kaberle and Tlusty would look good on the Black Hawks. There is a large Czech community in the centre of the city.

Kaberle would instantly become the team's best defenceman (It amazes me this team is 4 games above .500 with that defence.

I think Samsonov, a couple of draft picks, and maybe one of our young defencemen could get them. We have the wiggle room for Kaberle.
