Many people assume that marijuana was made illegal through some kind of process involving scientific, medical, and government hearings; that it was to protect the citizens from what was determined to be a dangerous drug.

The actual story shows a much different picture. Those who voted on the legal fate of this plant never had the facts, but were dependent on information supplied by those who had a specific agenda to deceive lawmakers. You'll see below that the very first federal vote to prohibit marijuana was based entirely on a documented lie on the floor of the Senate.

You'll also see that the history of marijuana's criminalization is filled with:

Racism
Fear
Protection of Corporate Profits
Yellow Journalism
Ignorant, Incompetent, and/or Corrupt Legislators
Personal Career Advancement and Greed

When cannabis is legalized, we'll find out THEN what kind of harm it does to the unborn. They haven't been able to do sufficient studies because both women and men deny smoking cannabis before conception and during pregnancy.

I suspect a lot of fetal alcohol syndrome is actually related to cannabis. Cannabis SHOULD be available to those with a medical need for it, but letting it loose in the general population poses hazards.

Just wait until a bulldozer operator whose been smoking cannabis on the job runs into a school bus.

By the way, use of cannabis DOES affect your ability to spell simple words like government.

Weed is a non taxable drug so they will try there damnest to keep it illegal.
But the downsides of weed, solid, ganja or whatever ya call it,is its side affects.
Paranoia,depression,laziness and mental problems.
Yes everbody should do what they want with their own body and life and getting high is wicked, but people want to get a better high from stronger stuff and then the troubles start.

Look at what smoking and drinking as done to society. People die a terrible death. Add marijuana and more people will die a terrible death.

If you smoke marijuana, I'll see you in heaven as a 15 to 30 years old when I am 70 or 80.

Should we therefore legalise all drugs ?
Just because we are wrong in on drug ie tobacco, why should we add to it ?

Well, "duh", that's why the UK (I assume you're in the UK from the pound symbols in your post) has now added itself to the list of countries that bans smoking in pubs and clubs.
