Haaj doesn't know what he/she is talking about. One of my best friends just got back from Afghanistan a few months ago. He served 14 mos there building roads, schools, Bagram airbase and there are still 1000's of troops there from all over the world helping in the efforts to rebuild Afghanistan as well as for protection. We don't hear squat about Afghanistan unless someone dies. There is still a threat there and alot of rebuilding that needs to be done. How selfish is it to not want to help these countries. We have the means to do it and I am proud to call my self an American because of the help we offer other countries that are less fortunate then us. And before anyone says there are homeless, starving and other needs in the US then I will say Every American has the opportunity to get a job, get an education and stop wasting so much money on material items that are not necessity. We as American complain about being broke, foreclosures rising etc yet we still have cable TV, spend to much money on Christmas, have tv's, Internet, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol and dine out weekly. I know alot of people on welfare and that make minimum wage that have or do all of the above yet whine about helping others when they are so broke. Just my honest opinion.

Hate to disagree with these people, but they seem pretty short sighted and forgetful. We went to Afghanistan because the Talibani government was hosting / harboring Osama bin Ladin, the man behind the highjacking of four civilian passenger planes and then crashed them into various building around the east coast. When asked to surrender him, they refused -- even at the threat of war. Some 3,000 INNOCENT people died that day. And for what? So that these lemmings could somehow forget? Pittiful lot.

Hit and run like they do. Far more efficient and far less expensive both in terms of money and lives.

no... they went there, did their thing hten got up and left without taking thier mess with them or helping out with the rebuilding... they're basically more focused on Iraq and most likely will be for a long time
