Yes they do. Which they have no business being there. They present a warped sense of what they need. The gays are human just like us straight people and people of all colors. Gays don't deserve anything above us. EQUAL!

I'm a member of the LGBT community and I hope not. I'm really disappointed in the LGBT community. With this war in Iraq we have our chance, now is the time for us to say to America; "let us fight". But no, just war protests and support for the Democrats. I don't blame America for barring us from military service. We have too many drama queens to win a war with. I was hoping that we could field a unit like the 54th Massachusetts in the civil war. The LGBT community isn't up to it. Why should we deserve equality?
I'm a veteran, there are many other Gay and Lesbian veterans and there are some Gay and Lesbian service members on active duty now and we are just as capable and patriotic as anyone else. But, the LGBT community at large does not fit that description. It's too bad too.

It's said that gays make up about 12% of the world's population (in or out of the closet). So, by shear numbers, their political influence can not be ignored. They represent a significant number of votes. Moreover, gays tend to be more intelligent than average person and tend to exercize their right to vote in greater numbers.
Politicians have no choice but to listen to them or loose their votes.

They don't have any power. It's the corporate powers and the right wing fundy lobbiests who have way too much power in American politics today.
