There are ,lots of ways to do this but your best bet is to take the Deuce (bus)

You can also take a trolley but you will need to transfer at Stratosphere.
cost $2.50 More info and map download here

Take the bus after nine p.m. Traffic should slow down and the trip shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. Don't take the bus during the day/rush hour! Traffic is too bad and the bus stays on the strip. It's only like $4 though . A cab would cost you $20-$40, but would be faster during daytime/rush hour (since they take the freeway to be faster). Bring good walking shoes, as most casinoes are close together but it's still a long hike to see it all. Have fun!

A taxi is not cheap, just the click to sit down in the tax is about $3.50. Expect at last a $10 taxi ride with tip, about 8 miles.

Some of the Downtown casinos have a shuttle to the Strip so check with the bellman

If your going to leave the strip, and why not?
Your best bet is to get a rental car.
You can get one for about $20 a day, plus tax on most rental companies web sites.
Last time I was in Vegas I rented from Alamo off of their web site,
and got a nice car for 4 days for under $20 including taxes. This way you have the freedom to go to locals places or off of the strip when ever you want.
Parking is usually free all over town, and on Fremont, at the parking garages you get your parking free with a validated ticket.

My wife and I stayed at the Golden Nugget, and we actually took the bus to the Strip! How many tourists do that? We met a few locals, the price was low, but it wasn't fast. But we weren't into fast on that morning. We did enjoy it.

Get an all day bus pass. I think they are $7.50 now and you can ride the strip bus back and forth for 24hrs

I've always used the LDW. The long drunken walk.
