i like to compare the middle east to europe during the middle ages. very strict, limited human rights, a lot of wars, similar governments etc... europe got out of it and i believe the middle east will to.....in a couple hundred years. if the world even lasts that long...

I don't know, but...
Just in case anybody says that separation of church and state is in the constitution, you're wrong. It's in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to the Catholic church.
Now that that's out of the way, let's get back to why I don't know. Ronald Reagan sent a couple hundred Marines to Lebanon in the 1980's sometime (obviously) and said he would not retreat at any cost. Well, he did because he said that their politics were too irrational to ever understand. As far as I'm concerned, some of their governments may always force Islam on its citizens until the end of time. There are already some that are pretty fair (especially Kuwait). We can always have faith, though. The politics are so different, you never know how difficult it is for a major overhaul to happen. Look at Pakistan... Not a good overhaul, but an overhaul nonetheless.

Only if we leave them alone to figure things out on their own.
If you remember, Iraq used to have a separation of church and state under Saddam Hussein, but now we've eliminated that. See how we're helping?

Yes. The question is whether their culture will ever evolve. I know many former (Middle Eastern heritage) Muslims who are now Atheists but still continue their sick hatred towards Jews and the West.
It's the culture, not religion.

Mosq and state? It used to be that way, I think we can come out of it if the US will leave us alone so we can figure things out ourselves

They've been fighting longer then the US has been a country. No one knows, but we're trying.
If we weren't trying, we'd have people saying that we should be in there trying to help out the weaker guy.
