9e^x -- 8 = 17
=> 9e^x = 25
=> e^x = 5^2/3^2
=> x = 2(log5 -- log3), natural logarithms

9e^x-8=17
9e^x=25
e^x= (25/9)
ln(e^x) = ln(25/9)
x = ln(25/9)

Can you use graphing?
If not:

add 8 to both sides
9e^x = 25

divide both sides by 9e

x = 7.550782857

round accordingly P:

best if i helped :)
