I would have to say they are BY far the WORST team to play for the National Championship if they go..some might say the 84 BYU team is but they were 12-0 and had 15 NFL players and the seniors on that team were 44-4..this WV team is WEAK not physical, small, in the Big 10 or SEC they would be a 3-8 team....

Sad state of affairs when everyone's downing a football team they've probably never watched beyond seeing their own team play them.

Just sit down, gather the family, watch the game, -then- pass judgment on how you feel about them. Besides, the year isn't over yet. With the way everything's going, we could end up seeing Arkansas vs USF in the national game.

Impossible? Yes. Improbable? No. It's the BCS system after all!

Did I savour it? possibly a splash, till the buzzer sounded. 01 - is that this needless to say a suitable 5 ncaa championship sport ever performed? (i think of that's) i do no longer. no longer asserting it wasn't a sturdy sport and a (cough) great (cough) ending (wager it relies upon which side you're on), in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it is not even on the brink of suitable 5 video games OR endings in experience history, much less very final 4 or Championship history. 02 - Do you think of Butlers 5 - 6 minute scoring drought interior the 2nd 0.5 became into probable the variation interior the sport? possibly, besides the actuality that they went the only acceptable 10 minutes of the Michigan State sport devoid of scoring a field objective and gained that with unfastened throws. It appeared like this one became into going a similar way, till the final minute or so. BQ: Did you modify the channel or turn the television off in the process the trophy presentation? if so could you have accomplished it if Butler had gained the sport? (smiling) (Liar, that's greater desirable than one question) sure, I did. as quickly because of the fact the shot rimmed out, I became the television off so i does no longer ought to ascertain the million Pukies have fun. And no, I unquestionably does no longer have became it off if Butler had gained. in reality, i could have been leaping everywhere. i'm no longer afraid to declare I hate Duke. Edit: 1979 - Michigan State vs. Indiana State - nonetheless the utmost-rated championship sport EVER. won't be ready to argue with that. Or the actuality that the two superb gamers remained competitors in the process their particularly useful NBA careers.

wow all the haters on west virginia.....its really kinda sad....as a mountaineer fan i am truly sorry that 1) your so called big and strong teams completely cracked underpressure. and 2) that you still cant give a team credit that is obviously the only team that actually has controlled their own destiny....but go ahead and make ur excuses about how strong the SEC and BIG 10 are and ignore that the facts are things are changing buddy the SEC is not the SEC it used to be and the big 10 wel i think they speak for themselves. and the funny part is wvu will be back next year if they want with the exact same weapons and an older, wiser Noel Devine soon to be a heisman winner within a year

All that and they just beat the 20th ranked team, 66-21 and it wasn't that close. They've avoided the trap every other top ranked team has fell into, so far.... I won't argue that they wouldn't have a tougher time in another conference, but Pat White and Steve Slaton and company didn't have a choice which conference or which out of conference games they got to play in. Bottom line, outside of a bad game at South Florida, they got the job done so far. Very few teams can say that right now.

I swear, some people will bash and degrade every team that is #1 unless it's LSU, USC, or some other "Powerhouse Team". Why can't people accept the fact that some other team makes it? It was the same with Ohio State, the same with WV, what are you going to do when either Kansas or Mizz makes it? Just accept the fact that there are teams that are not Pac 10 and SEC that make it... People need to stop complaining and change your pants that your team isn't undefeated and lost to unranked teams, or lost more than 1 game.

I agree with poster Jackson a playoff system is needed. Also to all these Ohio State fans theorizing what team Ohio can beat in the N.C game. Hate to burst your bubble, but that is an unlikely scenario. As long as West Virginia wins Pitt next week it is a mute point, it's over!!! the winner of Missouri/Kansas will be number #1 and a win for West Virginia next week would put them at Number #2 !!! huuhh that means Ohio would go no higher than number #3 at best, but would maybe move them to number #4 which may be unlikely either. Case in point: Three years ago USC was number #1 in the Coaches, AP poll & BCS, but when the FINAL BCS poll came out, it dropped USC down to number #3, (That shocked everybody including the Coaches) because of STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE. Sounding familar Ohio fans. STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE is factored in at end of year. hmmmmmm.... Ohio didn't play anybody of strength this year over 20th in the rankings. Presenting the FACTS that needed to be said !!!

i'm in no way a mountaineer fan, but I've picked them since week 1 to go to the national title game. West Virginia HAS its share of choking this year vs a VERY over rated South Florida team who beat them last year as well!! However I don't think they're the WORST team to ever make it to the BCS title game. I think that would belong to the OU team that got their asses handed to them by USC in 2004!

First of all the Big 10 sucks so they would be ahead of OSU and be atop the Big 10 so I don't know what your talking about there. But they're definitely not the worst team to play. The Ohio State team last year was worst than them. And Kansas who will probably play in the BCS game is worse than them.

Well considering they will probablyl beat Kansas, Missouri, or Ohio State in the title game. I wouldnt think that makes them the worst. Their record is mainly the result of a weaker conference but they are still better than they are given credit for.

first of all, big ten football is weak. secondly, WV is a little better than that. Remember, WV didn't lose to appalachian st. the bcs has blown up already! its useless. every year its the same conversation, bcs this, bcs that, playoff this, playoff that.

reason why things are the way they are, is because colleges have fewer scholarships to hand out. meaning, some pretty good players are going to teams like missouri, instead of michigan, or kansas, instead of texas, or south florida instead of miami.
your big name colleges won't be as powerful as they used to. and its starting this year. it took a couple years for it to hit the fan, but say goodbye to a complete domination of your big name schools.
