I bought some pregnancy tests that are ulta sensitive... Detects 10 mIU/ml of hCG. How many days after intercourse do you think it will take to get a clear reading? Many thanks.

I would just wait till you've missed a period. However, if you must do it sooner, give it a week or so. The egg doesn't fertilize immediately after intercourse.

It takes 10 days for the egg to implant into your uterus, and then your body will start to produce the HCG hormone so I think the earliest you can test is 5 days early but a test done that early no matter how sensitive the test is will only be about 40% accurate, 4 days early 50% accurate, 2 days early 75% on the day of a missed period 99%. If you leave it 18 days past ovulation its probably 100% accurate.

Even on the most sensitive tests my sister can't get a +ve result until she is at least 8 weeks pregnant and needed both of her pregnancies confirmed by her Dr instead.

Everyone is different but the closer to your due period you take it the more likely you are to get an accurate result.

The most sensitive tests out there won't detect pregnancy until 5 days before a missed period. And sometimes not even then, depending on when you ovulated and conceived.

I would advise you to wait till you would have been due on your period till you test yourself. If you wait a day or two after this is better. Use an early morning sample of urine and this will be the most concentrated. Above all don't be anxious and do not get desperate

Good luck!!

I was told by my doctor that 90% of these home pregnancy test are not accurate. enough to determine by being "late" a few days I believe she said being late a month would give a more accurate reading.
