There are many philosophical definitions of enlightenment but one theory is that enlightenment can only be achieve by knowledge and using that knowledge in our daily lives .
Temptation is there to teach and test us because we cant learn everything from books or watching others. Have you ever tried something that looked or sounded easy but it took you many tries to do it rite? Life lessons are the same (because what good is knowing something if you cant practice it).
If life was easy we would learn nothing and since enlightenment is achieved through knowledge.........

Free will...
There are pitfalls, potholes, forks and bends on every path. You can plow right through, go around, or stop and make a conscious decision to take the one least traveled. It's your path.

Temptation is your animalistic nature trying to assert itself. If you are focused, and you are true to the task, then it will be easier to maintain your course.
