I'm kinda wonderin how safe it is to ask questions, anymore?

Question

You have to ask yourself, who will be offended? If you ask a question in jest, will somebody not see the humor in it? Will someone misunderstand the humor? How can I indicate that I have no intention of hurting anyone? Does printing with all caps indicate shouting?
I know its no big deal, but I don't want to get blocked or reported or considered some kind of poop head. (oh-oh)

I reckon I better get outta here, now. My wife says its time to go eat at some fancy eatin establishment. 'Sides, I think I been on this here comptetator too long. I gotta go find some kind o'LIFE.

Yes, you must be careful about the questions you ask. You never know who the critics will target next!

I don't get offended by jokes or funny stories. I enjoy them.

Political correctness is ruining us. I prefer plain talk without having to look up the word/phrases to see what it "used to mean".

It's ridiculous:
can't say Merry Christmas... I've heard that for 70 years and I'm not gonna stop saying it now. I wouldn't be offended if someone wished me happy "whatever"; I'd just thank them and go on.

Santa can't say "ho ho ho"; Maybe he's saying "hoe hoe hoe"..... that's a garden tool, you know.

I was never an engineer; I was a housewife, not a 'domestic engineer' and every week, I put the garbage outside for the garbage man (not the 'sanitation engineer').

John Wayne was an 'actor'.
Bette Davis was an 'actress'. I cringe when I hear "Bette Davis was a good actor". If you hear "Gene Tierney is a good actor", better look that one up because in this case, Gene Tierney is a female.

I'm not 'vertically challenged'.
I don't have an 'enlarged physical condition'.
I'm not 'under-attractive'. In case you need translation for that, I'm short, fat and ugly but I'm a lady. I haven't heard the p c term for the word 'lady'.

I'll bet there aren't as many people offended as you think.

I understand you point and can even relate to it, but i'm
also sure your aware of that old saying from our time in
the old days, " If You Can't Say Something Nice About
Someone Don't Say Nothing At All " try telling someone
in this day and age not to say something, LOL. oops
lol . . . don't wanna offend the speech police . . .

here's something to think about, why do we scream about invasion of privacy and electronic surveilance and yet we all come the internet and spill our guts 2 the world, knowing damn well where this is all going and who might be at the other end compiling what we say . . .



We've 4gotten how 2 laugh @ ourselves any more, i know what you mean and where your coming from i'm from the old school myself, yet ironicaly it doesn't surprise me, i seen this
coming years ago but quite honestly in all fairness, who the hell else can we blame but ourselves the way we've abused the constitution by thinking it's ok to scream fire in a crowed theatre as long as it's someone elses theatre and not ours . . .

I worry about answering questions. Sometimes I joke around. I tell the truth when I'm not joking. If somebody read all my answers, they would know a lot about me. That is why I've hidden them. Just because one or two may be up to know good. I am sorry I have to think that way. I really like it here in the senior section of Y!A. You are awesome.

I've been on here since July 17th of this year and asked a total of 9 questions so yes, I'm chicken when it comes to asking. I'm always afraid I'll get kicked off. And it's sad, because a person shouldn't have to worry about certain people, chewing them out over everyday questions. Not that that's happened yet, but I've seen it done.

Think about this! Are you getting hurt? Is police coming to your house? Had an accident? No? Then it's safe. It's at the privacy of your own computer, people can't do anything to you, you don't know where they are, they don't know where YOU are, it's perfectly safe.

It's unfortunate people are bothered by mere print!

Also people sometimes are pretty bored and will shoot cyber venom just for the hell of it! Bottom line is do what you want, if it offends people (which it shouldn't IT'S ******* CYBERSPACE FOR CRYING OUTLOUD PEOPLE ARE AS IF THEY'RE EMOTIONALLY TOUCHED by what they see in print!)
