Nic (nikki) quit being the smart a** here...You always think that you are the smartest person in the world about hockey...god...

I would have to go w/ the 1st answer...even though I am like your best friend....you wasted your $$$ on that course too...they r wrong girl!!! and you know it...even though this one book that I did read said that the birthplace of hockey was formed by the british in Kingston, Ontario....and hokcey is a VERY popular sport...

Actually, Nikki, hockey is a game that evolved. They have found hieroglyphs in Egypt of two people with a stick and ball-like object playing a game that's similar to floor/ground/sand hockey. The british started playing a game with a stick and any object (including human waste) on ice when they landed here in the Maritimes provinces. And the first recognized hockey game was in Montreal, organized by a man by the name of James Creighton.

LOL Obviously, you just wasted your money. Buy Hockey: A People's History and you will see how wrong you are. Hockey being "founded..."

Well I am not so sure it isn't.
Hockey is a world sport and like soccer has only been offered as a sport for about 15 years in the US.
Basketball, football, and baseball were always taught in gym glass and offered as extra curricular events.
Hockey is just not as established as those sports.....the system is changing tho.

Hockey is a VERY popular sport....

Hockey was formed by the british in Kingston Ontario, CANADA....hockey then began to spread everywhere...it reached to the Northern U.S (Chicago, Detroit, NY, etc) that is when they formed the original 6....Hockey is very well known for a Canadian Sport, not an American sport like Baseball, Football, Basketball, etc...)

I am going up North this year for hockey history things...I live in Georgia, so I took my classes up in ATL....and that is excactly what they told me....

Hmm well it is popular In canada thats for sure.. same with the northern United States and Scandinavia.. how is it not popular?
