Going to war is the only way to make those foreign countries buy arms from the U.S is a old idea. In this age of time, it does not work any more. So some countries like Australia, Japan, and many European countries just pretend support the war to please the U.S but majority of the cost is paid by American people.

If you stay away from war, your nation will prosper automatically! Wars cost big money and you'll never get it back! Switzerland and Sweden never go to war yet they prosper!

It is my opinion that they don't. However, war does not necessarily mean traditional warfare. I think that essential to maintaining greatness is to redraft the definition of war to fit circumstances that allow a nation to promote itself as preeminent among other nations in the security that it can offer to citizens.

well, have good security and maintain the economy in a good manner. Unfortunately, there are always people who wanna fight, so great nations have to fight to defend what is theirs.
