I'm 13 and want to lose 4 pounds a week, so I'd lose about 20 lbs by New Year. I'm about 140 lbs and 5'0. I'm a vegetarian, so diet recommendations?

"Diet" means way of eating. Not going on a "diet" meaning restriction of food intake.

Weight loss should be regulated by a physician, in your case a pediatrician. Tell your parents you want to lose the weight. Set an appointment with your doctor and have him work out a plan with a nutritionist that will be successful, to much weight to fast will fail. YOU have to excercise to burn calories and be healthy. Nothing else works. So a medically monitored diet and exercise program are your best and safest bet. Vegetables are good for you but how are you preparing them and so on. You nutritionist will help with a suitable meal plan. You will NOT lose that weight that fast without becoming ILL!!

Do you eat alot of eggs and dairy? I'm veggie as well and I'm still some 20 pounds overweight. I think its the massive amounts of macaroni and cheese I consume. ; ) If you can get calcium and protein from something, you might consider going vegan for a while. Also, exchange some of the carbs you're eating(like breads or pasta) with an extra serving of veggies.

I think at your age, 2 pounds a week is about the amount of weight you should try to lose. And its really not so difficult as four pounds. It takes a bit longer, but the end result is the same. Also get walking, if its too cold, go to a mall or large store and make a few laps. Good luck!

4 pounds a week won't happen. You should have started 3 months ago to lose 20 pounds. If you crash diet, you'll only gain it back with extra weight besides...the best way is to lose weight slowly...like for you about 1-2 pounds a week.

You don't need a gym to exercise...do it at home. And make sure you don't snack, especially after supper. Small quantities, 3 meals a day and nothing after 7pm.. your body will thank you.

Well, loosing more than five pounds a week is unhealthy, so your goal seems pretty fine, but on borderline. A great way to lose weight is to count to five before every bit you take. Think about whether or not you're full in those five seconds. If you aren't, take the bite. If you are, there's no need to that extra food, now is there?

Also, it's really healthy to just take a walk around the block before dinner and lunch.

You are too young to diet, but if you adjust your food intake and exercise you will lose weight.
If you are a vegetarian be sure you are eating a variety of fruits and vegetables and avoid too much pasta. You need protein so be sure to eat almonds or drink a protein shake.
Drink 6- 8 glasses of water daily and speed walk for at least a half an hour or more daily and maybe do some aerobics for cardio. Do NOT drink sugary drinks, ice cappucinos and pop.

The only way to lose 20lbs by New Years would be to lose weight under a doctor's supervision. Your maximum safe weight loss would be 1.5 lbs a week.

If you are changing your eating habits, just avoid processed foods, and eat more raw fruit and vegetables. French Fries may fall into vegetarian guidelines but they certainly are a good food to avoid for any 13 yr old.

Well I learned that to be safe you should only lose about 2 pounds a week. So you can play sports and do brisk walking and running. Try doing yoga and exercise. Then eat fruits and a lot of vegetables. Don't eat junk food.

losing a poung is intaking 3500 calories less.
unless you only eat junk food, there really isnt much of a way for a young girl to lower their diet by 14,000 calories a week in a healthy way. just exercise, and eat healthily. theres no set weight you'll lose, but it will start to come off easily.

Go to the gym. Baisically just burn more carbs than you eat. Don't go to far though, or you'll get sick. You don't need to go to the gym. Go outside for a walk every now and then. If it's cold dress in layers. It's easier if you have a partner. Ask your mom to help you. You could kill to birds with one stone and walk around a mall for half an hour (and I know girls like that. My Mom goes to the mall when she's broke as a joke).

No gym... I'd say your best bet would be to check an aerobics video out of the local library, get 20 minutes a day of good calorie-burning exercise on top of your daily activities.
