My 8 month old is a cat napper. We have tried to extend his naps and so far, no success. He needs to nap longer than 45 min as he wakes up CRANKY! I am just wondering if and when your baby extended his cat-naps to regular 1.5-2 hr naps and what you did to achieve success. Thanks for your answers!

for those afternoon naps...I usually take a nap along with my son. When we nap together he'll sleep for 2 hours. If I'm busy and put him to nap by himself..then he usually sleeps for about 30-40 min.

I think he is comforted by the fact that I'm right there...and sometimes he may wake up...but I just pat his chest until he falls back asleep.

You let them cry themselves back to sleep. Thats the only way Ive ever been able to solve the problem. One they get over it a few days their bodies get used to being asleep longer and they stop waking up so soon.
