I just found out that in my religion, Roman Catholic, using birth control is a sin because you're preventing God's gift of life. Apparently, in my diocese, we have some kind of program called "family natural planning" where they help couples calculate the days you are most likely to conceive.

Do you agree with this?

I am not Catholic and do not believe birth control is a sin. I think it is a sin to get pregnant and be saddled with a child to raise. Parenting should be planned when you know you want a child and can properly take care of them and not pawn them off on friends and relatives to take care of. Its especially bad to let the child think it all his fault for being born. Children are a gift from God and should be cherished and loved as such.

First lets not live through the Catholic church teachings. They are the biggest hypocrites that exist. It is not a sin because sometimes people use it for medical reason and not to prevent you from having babies. I had a problem a while back and my doctors prescribe me birth control pills, which cured me. And I am still a virgin. And don't you think its a bigger sin to bring a child into the world to have the baby go starve because you don't have any money?

That's been around a long time. The only way they want people to avoid having children is to time your cycles and abstain when your chances of becoming pregnant are high. I wouldn't worry to much about it, most Catholics I know that are active sexually use birth control despite the churches wishes. For that matter they have sex in the first place despite the churches wishes, since they aren't married.

My belief from considering the scriptures is that life begins at conception. Sperm is not a life, and neither is an egg. Once these come together, then we're talking. Therefore, if birth control is a contraceptive, than it is acceptable scripturally. However, once that egg is fertilized, life has begun. Taking any life, even that of an unborn child, is murder.

No there are a lot of things that the catholic church doesnt like or frowns on let me list a few. MASTERBATION now everyone does it. People do not lie we all have done it! Drinking cola, coffee that is putting caffine (a drug) into your body. if we didnt use birth control i would garrentee that the chruch would be full to capacity every Sunday. wishing you could have that chick or that dude. that is coveting your neighbors wife husband son daughter. Pre marital sex Now would you say 50% of all brides are virgins maybe 40% 10%

The teaching of the church in my eyes are guides to live a good and fruitful life and you pick the fruit you want to eat.

Family natural planning is not that reliable... maybe better than nothing, but I would only use that method if I was ok with accidently becoming pregnant. I think birth control is fine; if the pregnancy was never there, there is no sin. Plus, I don't think it is right to have more kids than what you can afford. Kids are expensive!!!!

No,I don't agree.I feel that practicing birth control is a very responsible decision. It's wrong to bring children into this world if you're not able to support them financially.Besides,"family natural planning"is birth control.Go figure.

The Roman Catholic hierarchy is very clear that artificial methods of birth control are forbidden. The only approved method is the "rhythm" method, which involves figuring out when the female partner is ovulating by timing periods and body temperature. My personal belief is that banning birth control in this era of massive overpopulation and grinding poverty is unethical. However, if you are Catholic, you probably believe that the Pope has a hotline to God, and therefore the Church is not to be questioned.

if you think about it both ways are preventing birth! one is using calculations and without medication the other is simply taking a pill each day! both ways the end result is to "prevent God's gift" if you can do it with the calculations and numbers that's great I say do that!!!

kids are a huge responsibility you can make them but you can't un-make them so make sure your ready for them before you make them!!!

no, i don't agree with it. i have to think this way. if someone doesn't do something about it, there is going to be an even bigger population explosion than there is now. it is the responsible thing to do and if god lets other religions do it, why can't the catholics?
ooohhh, that's right. if your friend jumps off a bridge.......
