Well i dont see how it helps you step by step when all you need to do is go on internet explorer/firefox go to a website. That isnt too hard to do. If you are a begginer you usually arent on the internet too much anyway so why would you pay so much for such little time.

AOL's selling point has always been convenience/ease of use. At their peak in the mid to late 90s, when they were adding users by the millions, they offered one of the easiest ways to get online and go on the internet, and offered the convenience of providing everything - email, news, entertainment - through one interface. As broadband grew and more people found out they didn't need AOL, they gradually switched, but for many people, they have several years of their life invested in AOL's service, and they won't easily switch simply because it would be a fair amount of work to do so.

AOL is geared for the beginner. It holds your hand every step of the way. My mother-in-law, who does not know a computer from a typewriter, and would freeze at the sight of a C:\ prompt, could use AOL
If you can turn on the computer, you can use AOL
Once you know a little bit about what your doing, you ditch the training wheels and get a grown up service

Why do people drive Fords?? Same logic, same result, just swap a name...
It's because they believe what they are told, without question, from any reputable looking authority-type person.
They never question, never look at all the facts, just take-in the fancy colors & flashing lights and fork over the money. This is why Waco Texas and other hokey religious types exist, to fleece the gullible.
Personally, I prefer Honda, broadband and Wendy's for my junk food.
Nuff said.

I guess its coz of the services the AOL Browser has...
Other than that, I doubt there is any reason...
I subscribed to AOL then canceled my subscription as I had to have my AOL browser running to have internet access...once I close it, I'm disconnected from the outside world!!
For me, I keep my internet running 24/7. So, having to keep AOL browser running 24/7 is not convenient for me!
Donno why others subscribe though...personally, I never used any of their browser services :P
