My Dalmatian that we have currently is Rudy Tooty, because he has horrible, stinky gas.
A little girl I babysat had a dog and she named her Mine. Because it was hers.

My sis has a dog named "Cat." Only it's the Russian word for cat, "Koshka." They used to have a dog named "Dog"... only it was the Hebrew word for dog, "Caleb."
I had a couple of rabbits who were a beautiful chocolate brown when they were babies. I named one, Toblerone (a Swiss choc.) and the other, the long-haired female, Lady Godiva (another fine choc.).

How about "Peanut" for a small, hairless, brown doggy?Either, "Sweet Pea" or "Peep-squeak" are cute for dogs that won't grow too tall. "Buster" and "Rascal" are at the top of my list for playful happy, rolly-poly dogs...Noble is popular for those big, great loyal Great Danes (as well as "Peanut")
As for cats: "Meowington" and Mr. Wellington are my favorites.
