Mask True Story

2016-11-14 23:04:08 · answer #2 · answered by brazell 4 · 0 0

The Man in the Iron Mask (d. November 1703) was a prisoner who was held in a number of jails, including the Bastille and the Chateau d'If, during the reign of Louis XIV of France. The identity of this man has been thoroughly discussed, mainly because no one ever saw his face which was hidden by a mask of black velvet cloth. Later retellings of the story have claimed that it was an iron mask.

What facts are known about this prisoner are based mainly on correspondence between his jailer and his superiors in Paris.

yes the man in the Iron Mask was a real person, he lived during the time of King Louis the fourteenth. As in the movie, in real life the Man in the iron mask was said to have guards from the musketeers watching over him day and night. It is also said that the man did not wear a mask of iron rather a mask of black velvet and that he only had to wear it in public. In 1789 a journalist revealed that a valet to the king told him that Louis the fourteenth had a twin and so the legend of the man in the iron mask was born.

There was a log of prisoners in the Bastille in France and when they broke into it and destroyed it they found something that said like ''prisoner 12345 man in iron mask''.
A prisoner in an iron mask did exist according to the log but if you mean that was he the kings twin brother, probably just a story. Most likely not.

If you Google "The Man in the Iron Mask" the third suggestion will take you to a Wikipedia entry which suggests that there was a prisoner in a mask whose identity was never known. Some suggest he was Louis XIV's twin brother; others suggest an older brother. It weems to be a mystery that won't be resolved for a few thousand years but that will continue to intrigue people of the present.

It's based off of a true story. In France they used the iron mask as a method of torture.

Man in the Iron Mask was a real person. In 1698 a mysterious man was imprisoned in the Bastille. Almost no one seemed to know who he was, although residents of the French prison were usually important people who had fallen out of favor with King Louis XIV. This man had been a captive of the government since at least 1687, and for all that time his face had been hidden by a mask.
