We are a military family with orders. We need to sell our home now and are listed on every site available to us. We are not having very many showings and feel lost to this whole process.

Sometimes you have to put out money to make money. I know you are trying to save the 6% commission, but things are very slow right now for everybody.
Help-U-Sell charges a 3% commission I have been told, check it out.

Hiring a Realtor allows for many more people to see your home's availability. The MLS or multiple listing service allows hundreds, if not thousands of Real Estate Professionals to see your home, and subsequently pass the info on to their buying customers.
That said, keep in mind that the one and only thing that makes a home sell fast is pricing. Price yours lower than comparable properties, and it will sell.

Houses in many areas are selling slowly right now. If you have a realtor who is on multilist, your house will get good exposure. Good luck.
