Sorry...but those kinds of headers seem to get more attention..and I really do need help..anyway...
I have been trying to figure out if I need to see a gynecologist for a couple months now.
I have been having trouble with an irregular period for the last couple months. I have been exhausted all the time and losing my hair. I also get pains in my breasts and occasionally around my ovaries. I talked to my doctor about being tired and losing my hair (hadn't realize my period problems back then) and she said maybe a vitamin deficiency. She tested me for everything like thyroid, diabetes etc and it was all normal. She told me to check with my dermatologist about my hair (have an appt. in Jan.) I have been considering birth control to regulate my periods. Do I need to see a gyno or should I just go back to my family doctor?
BTW...I'm 18 and not sexually active. Until recently my period had ALWAYS been regular...(and I've had it since I was 12)....

You should get a full exam from a gyno before you go on the pill if that's what you decide to do. At 18 you should be getting a full cervical exam and a pap smear. I started at that age and I wasn't sexually active until I was 20. You are an adult woman and should be taking care of your body.

A low dose birth control is a great way to control your periods and can also help with things like acne. I started on birth control around your age before I started having sex. Just helped keep things regular and managable.

Good luck hun!

Yes, I think going to a gynecologist would be a good idea. Especially since you are having many different symptoms. I certainly would at least get checked on before trying birth control. There may be something else that can be done about it. And the birth control probably wouldn't help the fatigue, pains or hair loss.

If i were you i would see a gyno just because they will probably know more about the subject, and they can really get to the bottom of this. im not trying to freak you out or anything - but go to the doctor again - it might just be your hormones going crazy or it could be something even worse - and if i were you i would get on the safe side and find out.

Good Luck!

Stress maybe? I would consult my gyno about possibly using birth control. Also, I don't think that the hair lose is having anything to do with this. but it may. talk to your gyno, and see what he/she thinks is best for you.

Hope it helps :D

Because of your irregular periods I would recommend seeing a gynecologist.

the first years of periods are almost always irregular- don't be worried- mine were irregular for 10 years- see your GP and see if (s)he can fix it and if they can't understand, get a referral form them to a good gyno
