Are we talking being minted now.

Now there are the Quarter ($0.25), Dime ($0.10), Nickel ($0.05), and the Cent ($0.01)

If you go back we had 50 cent pieces and a few other denominations if I am not mistaken.

1 dime=10 cents
1 nickel=5 cents
1 penny=1 cent

Rick G had the correct answer, including the statement about the Half-dollar ($0.50) piece. Although the half-dollar is no longer minted or in circulation, they still exist and are legal currency. At one time, there was also the silver dollar ($1.00) which is still used in the Western states that have gambling casinos. Presently, there is also the gold dollar coin.
