Currently I am 5'9" at 240 pounds, I'll make a long story very short, I used to weigh 260, dropped down to 180 pounds for the military, never got in and after 5 years I have put on 60 pounds. I dont know how much of that is muscle, when I was 180 I was close to being very defined almost ripped. And as the fat came back on (because I stopped my diet and cardio) I worked out intensely and gained alot of muscle mass.

Now Im getting ready to start training MMA and I know that being too bulky is a bad thing for a fighter, and a doctor told me that if I got down to 195 I would be defined. I want to start training with pilates because I understand that is very benificial to fighters, but I dont really want to loose any of my muscle mass and I dont want to gain any either. Will pilates do that to me?

Pilate's will tone what muscle you have so it is more defined. Therefore you will look more like Mr Universe and not bulky or overweight. Good luck and good choice of exercise.

oh no! quite the opposite! I figure skate, and to do that my core, legs, arms, and just body in general have to be fit! I do pilates and yoga once a week and its got me toned and very fit! but what pilates will do for you is tone your muscle and make you stronger. And dont always concentrate on what the scale says, muscle weighs more than fat! good luck

when your muscles arent being worked they are losing definition. if u want good weight training use lower weights and higher reps and sets so you can build, muscle endurance, and be ripped. this will especally help if u want large veins.
