The objective of philosophy is, in my opinion, to let all people at least THINK about answers, all answers that concern life as we know it. Everybody should be free to discuss this, and present arguments for his/her case. If people are reasonable (very hard in this media world), then answers will come. Thus, the objective of philosophy is to let people think for themselves and respect this thought.

The objective of philosophy is to make allowances for, or foster different ideas and perspectives through the medium of critical thinking. (Philosophy should be a safe haven for those who desire truths beyond authorities, dogma, "common" sense, and the superficial realities.)

well from my experience in philosophy class, it is to make people so frusterated they lose all desire to live. haha but no, i begrudingly admit that it helps you develop your critical thinking skills, broadens your horizons, helps you understand other people's beliefs, and all in all makes you a more well rounded person
