I think it all depends. Mostly tho I look at it as I do in every situation like that. If they WEREN'T laughing at you then there would be NO reason to say it. For example, lets say your talking to smeone on the computer that you have never met, and they say how much do you weigh? It doesnt matter, I'm just curious. For them to ask it , or even say it, it has to be some type of concern. In summation who is this piece a garbage that was laughing at you? Imago cyber fight him and scare him away from the computer.
