Yes! There is alot to know! (I have had one for 3 years) First of all they love sweet fruit! I have found that out by myself since no other pet sites tell you that (mine loves watermelon the most). They tend to smell even if they have had their glands removed so be ok with the area that he lives in stinking a little! The rest any pet site can cover also if you want to look at cute ferret clothes then look @ this website: www.ferretcouture.co.uk

DO NOT WASH THEM!!!! I read a study that says that when you wash a ferret the oils come off of it's fur and it makes the ferret smell worse!!! Plus ferrets don't seem to enjoy baths.

Don't worry about not washing them because i only washed my ferret about 5 times since i got him three years ago. The only reason i washed him was because he got into dirt.

On of the best books you can get on ferrets is Ferrets For Dummies. Also I'd recommend joining up with a few ferret bulletin boards to talk to other owners.

Ferrets are not like dogs or cats. The best description I can give is that they're hyperactive 2 year olds on speed.... You can't keep pet birds or small rodents in the same house with them, they will take all your potted plants out of their pots, and all your garbage out of the bin. Be prepared for cleaning up a lot of stuff.

We have 2 ferrets, they are pretty easy to take care of. If you have it in a cage make sure it has plenty of room to play, they love the hanging hammocks. They need plenty or exercise so plan to have them out for about an hour a day. You will want to make sure that your house if ferret proof. You need to make sure they can not get under you cabinets, refrigerator, etc. They can get into anything and will. You may think a hole or crack is too small for them to get into but they will surprise you. Also they horde food and toys so do not leave earrings, rings, or keys where they can find them. You may want to check this site for more info.http://www.marshallpet.com/marshall/mp_consumer.html

Only you know what you know and what you don't and what you'd like to know and most books offer the need to know stuf. Make sure its all inclusive.Everything from where they come from to how to read their behavior to a health and disease guide. If you have already researched and are still asking then you didn't get a good source. Try another and know thats the very best asvise I can give because theres not enough room here for any of us to cover what you need to know.

I have 2... they are good fun... but watch the biteing.... they play with each other by nipping.... but if you teach them not to bite hard you should be fine... Mine don't bite... they also need washed evey day... kinda smelly.. and make sure it is "fixed" and de-sented... they are like skunks... and you have to have the glads removed.. knowone should be selling pet ferrits unless they are "fixed"and glands removed..
