If you're looking for Christmas stories, I'd agree with Happy Trucker about A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I read that every year around Christmas.
I'd also suggest The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans and The Christmas Wish by Richard Siddoway or The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere.
I'd also suggest The Other Wise Man by Henry Van Dyke and The Gift of the Magi by O Henry. They are both very good stories.
Joe Wheeler edited a complete series of books called Christmas in My Heart with short stories by various authors (some known, some unknown) who wrote in various times (some older, some more modern). They are full of excellent stories that range from humorous to very touching. It's a real pleasure to read these stories around Christmas.

do you mean 'over christmas'?
or about christmas?
last year i read a fasinting book
about the the evolution of the true turkish nicholas
(who became saint nick)
can't remember the name of the book
but it might be 'the history of christmas'
or 'the history of santa claus'
it also explains the origins of the christmas tree
and how christ's cross
became 'criss-cross'
represented by a + or x
therefor, 'x' mas is not sacriligious
as many fundamentalist say

Well I'm really hoping that Santa puts Katherine Whitehorn's recently published autobiography ' Selective Memory' into my leg warmer (whoops, fallen out other end). Very funny and intelligent veteran UK journalist who also wrote 'Cooking in a Bedsitter', which could be second choice!
