I would call it Nugget.
Why?
Why would you call your's what it is, right?
To each own, and Nuggets are very fine things.
I have it all worked out. People of America are called Americans. People from Nugget will be called Nuggets, and the capital will be called Honey Mustard and the President shall reside in a dipping bowl shaped house.
You see where I am going? Their closet allie is Milkshaketpoia, and they are currently at odds with the land of the Whopper.

Great question. It would depend what country it was, on what continent, with what climate, geographical features, etc. I write sci fi, so I do a lot of naming of countries, worlds, people and more. So my favorite single name for a country is Zom. It's in a tropical setting, with a great river, jungles, and its capital being M'temba, a fine walled city on the River Meduma, which leads to the Great Canyon of the Meduma and then to the distant Warembe mountains to the north and east.

I would enforce a one-world government and name it Pangaea, after the single super landmass that existed in prehistoric times before they it up into the individual continents we now know today.
