I'm going to Tokyo at the end of December and I'm a little freaked out by the Japanese train and subway system. I know its good and probably one of the best in the world but its a little confusing. I'd like to know what should I do to go to the regular subway lines from Narita's airport? As a student I'd like to take the cheapest way. if you can give me advice I would really appreciate it. Thank so much

The cheapest way to Tokyo from Narita Airport, it's Keisei Electric Railway, but not Skyliner. Skyliner is an express train. If you ride a Skyliner, you need an express fee.
You can go to Nippori ( near Ueno) by Keisei from Narita Airport, and then you can change JR "Yamanote-Line".
JR "Yamanote -Line" is a very convenient train in Tokyo.
Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Shibuya, Akihabara....
These are stations of Yamanote-Line. You can go anywhere you want.

In addition, Keisei and JR are not subway.
The subway in Tokyo is called "Tokyo-Metro". This is very convenient, too, but quite complicated, not so easy for tourist, I suppose.
But it is necessary to use the subway to look around Tokyo, so you should carry the subway route map, which you can get any subway stations.

Actually, the bus is cheaper than the train. And I think, a little less intimidating for a first timer.
I lived in Yokohama for 2 years, (now I live in Seoul), and I usually took the bus. People will tell you this is a bad idea during rush hour, and if time is a factor, then the train is always reliable. But I think a 1st-timer should get to see something on route into town and the bus gives you a better idea of the layout.
there are many routes into town, just tell the ticket agent where you want to go and they will get you on the right bus. They speak english.
and it so easy... here is the link

Then, after you check into your hotel, you can wander around and try out the train system. It is also easy, but familiarize yourself so that you are not confused between the metro and the JR lines.

Finding both cheap and easy way to Sheraton hotel after 9PM is difficult. Probably following route is easiest. Take JR train which depart Narita airport (bound for Tokyo) at 22:19 (10:19PM) from Terminal 2 (If you are arrived at T1, it depars at 22:16). *This is last JR train departure from airport. Buy ticket for Funabashi station, fare is 950 yen/person. After 1 hour ride, get off the train at "Funabashi" station. Then take a taxi to your hotel. It is about 5,000-6,000 yen. 35-40 min ride. If you come with your family, total cost is not that big difference from taking Limousine bus (2,400 yen each). Also Keisei line departure from Airport at 21:54 or 22:14 (both from T1 then T2) to "Keisei-Funabasi" station. Fare is 720 yen. Keisei-Funabasi station is 8 min far from Funabasi station of JR line. But I think probably you can get a taxi at this local station. JR and Keisei line depart from basement of the airport.

The cheapest way is the Keisei Narita line. Take the Keisei Skyliner if you don't mind spending about 600 yen more than what the Keisei Narita line milk run would cost.
