Once we have had enough sleep for the night, we are much more easily awakened by light or noises. The Circadian rhythm helps maintain a regular sleep cycle. Some people worry so much about missing a flight that they wake up several times and check the clock.

well, we are animals. and as much as some people would not like to acknowledge that fact, we (as animals) are subjected to the same environmental cues that help animals regulate their activities e.g., sunlight.

also, i notice when i am anticipating an important event i will wake up before my alarm clock. and so your mind has a little influence on when you wake up.

well we go through prcesses known as REM and non-REM(rapid eye movement) when the process are finished we wake up. Some people have a sickness were they dont go through enough of these processes and wake up to early.
