Doctors or interns don't have the time to do all that socializing. On those shows the doctors do all the work, and you hardly see the nurse. Doctors and nurses are too busy to get emotionally involved with the patient, plus doing so can cause problems. An over zealous doctor, can cause lots of problems.
I have yet to see one medical drama show that is spot on.

Thanks for answering my question. Never seen Greg's, I've seen a part of it, but not an entire show.

You have obviously been watching Grey's Anatomy. I have yet to see that many beautiful people in a hospital as well but many people do think these shows are accurate. I think that there is some small validity to "House"
