The Yankees dont im okay with it they had a mascot but fans dint like it and well i dont know but last years game we the Yankee fans recall seeing the Squirrel on the foul pole maybe that can be the Yankees Mascot the squirrel

The Yankees are definitely old school and don't need a mascot. My favorite team, the Red Sox, added Wally the Green Monster (get it the green monster is a wall). He runs around and cheer leads, but there really isn't a use for that. I went to a Red Sox --Padres game last year at Petco and they had a guy in a friar outfit, some people dressed as animals and some girls who were doing cheerleading. It seemed very bizarre--like high school football. The Angels have the rally monkey, but he really is not the same kind of mascot, meaning it is not some guy dressed in a monkey suit. The rally monkey exists only on the Jumbo Vision and is just a picture of a small monkey jumping up and down, usually with a lead in from a movie like Field of Dreams.
Mascots for baseball teams really belong in ballparks that have images of clapping hands to tell the crowd when to clap. If your stadium has to tell you when to make noise, as they do in San Diego and Anaheim, then the management probably figures you need a mascot to help with the cheerleading. If your team plays in a place like Fenway or Wrigley where the stadium vision does not tell the crowd what to do, because the crowds have figured it out for 4 generations, your team probably does not need a mascot. It will be interesting to see what Yankee management does in the new Yankee stadium. I would not be surprised if they make a considered decision to keep things familiar and old school while adding luxury boxes, restaurants and other more modern amenities, and make the considered decision to leave the squirrel on the foul pole in the old stadium.

The Yankees don't have a mascot. However, we used to have one back in the 70's, even though it didn't last long. The name of the mascot is "Dandy", which is short for Yankee Doodle Dandy. It looked like a bird, and it had pinstripes, and a moustache. However, I agree that the Yankees should have a mascot that resembles a squirrel. However, the Yankees class A Minor League team, the Staten Island Yankees have three mascots. I am sure that all of the other Yankee Minor League teams have mascots as well.

I Completly forgot about Dandy.
The Staten Island Yankees have "Scooter the Holy Cow" in honor of Phil Rizzuto, HOF NY Yankees short stop during the 1940's and 1950's & one of the voices of the NY Yankees on radio and TV for 40 years.
Scooter has 2 brothers "Red" & "Huck" as mascots.

It used too, but was soon cut. During the 1980 season a mascot named Dandy came along in the Yankees franchise. Fans beat up Dandy because they didnt believe the Yanks should have a mascot, so I guess he quit.

Reds have Mr. Red and Gapper. The Cardinals have Fredbird the Redbird, one of the most popular mascots in the industry.

The Tigers have "Paws". Some big overgrown guy in a big Tiger suit. He looks okay, but he does the stupidest things.
I am not a big fan of his.
I love the Phillies Phanatic!
I wonder do The Phillies have him?

The red sox have.....wally the green monster, he's ok., deffinately better than the mariner moose who trys to run players over in a quad....i think all teams should have a mascot, its good for the kids, they all love them, i see that alot at the local games i go to, the kids yell their name and run to them :)
